Formal Appraisals for Jewelry and Gemstones

We are an independent jewelry appraisal and gemological services company, with over 70 years of combined experience in the jewelry business and jewelry and gemstone appraisal services. We have a reputation built on accuracy, fairness, and honesty; we are the only Certified Gemological Appraiser (CGA) in the Finger Lakes region.

A professional appraisal provides a comprehensive picture of your precious jewelry or gems.

Your appraiser’s report can be used for a variety of functions such as:

  1. Determining the cost of comparable replacements for insurance purposes.

  2. Settling values for equitable distribution to heirs in the setting of an estate.

  3. Estimating prices or liquidation.

A Certified Gemological Appraiser (CGA) is recognized throughout the jewelry industry as an appraisal authority. The title of CGA is the highest award given by the American Gem Society. It is bestowed upon only those retail jewelers who comply with the American Gem Society Appraisal standards and have proven expertise and professionalism.

Micky Roof :

Owner of The Jewelbox

Micky was introduced to the art of jewelry making in 1969 by her high school art teacher in Cheltenham, Pa. She went on to get her BS in art education at Mansfield State College, where she spent most of her time in the Jewelry Studio, not realizing she was preparing for a lifelong career as a custom jewelry designer and goldsmith.

Fifty-plus years and six retail locations later… plus many years of training and education, she is now using her half-century of experience providing much-needed guidance for the public and providing accurate and professional appraisals services.
